Scorecards and social accountability for improved maternal and newborn health services: A pilot in the Ashanti and Volta regions of Ghana

This is the fourth paper in Evidence for Action-MamaYe’s series on accountability in maternal and neonatal health programmes. The paper presents the results of a pilot multi-stakeholder social accountability intervention using scorecards, to improve the provision of quality maternal and newborn care in Ghana. The paper describes the scorecard results and discusses lessons learnt.

Strengthening accountability for improved maternal and newborn health: A mapping of studies in Sub-Saharan Africa

This is the first paper in Evidence for Action-MamaYe’s maternal and neonatal health accountability series. It provides a structured review of types of maternal and newborn health accountability mechanisms implemented and evaluated in Sub-Saharan Africa and serves as a conceptual framework for other articles in the series.
